Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. Under App, Service or We it is meant “Bites Diary: Your calories log” and all related systems. This Privacy Policy explains what information We collect, how We use it, and what choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

The App may store the prompts you provide to our service, such as food, nutrition and other text related to consumption and link them to a Pseudo-identifier. A Pseudo-identifier is a unique, non-directly identifiable, randomly generated label used by the App to represent an individual or their activity within our systems. It is generated or reset on every App install. A Pseudo-identifier may be used to distinguish individual usage patterns over time.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information from our users. This means We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, phone number, or any other information that could directly identify you. No sign-in or registration is needed to use the app.

3. Usage Analytics and Diagnostics

To continuously improve our Service, We collect data related to usage analytics and diagnostics, linked to a Pseudo-identifier. This data helps us understand how our Service is used, identify areas for improvement, and diagnose technical and security issues. We use Firebase/GoogleAnalytics service, which may process information about your device type, operating systems, demographics in aggregate fashion. We depend on the Google/Firebase’s library, FirebaseAnalyticsCore.

4. Data usage agreement

By using our service, you agree to us using the data generated to create models (including but not only artificial intelligence models) and logic to improve the service or anything else not violating this policy. This includes using the data for research, development, and enhancement of our algorithms and features, all while maintaining your anonymity and privacy. For example, We may use the data to improve the mapping of specific text requests to entries in the public food databases so the results you receive are more accurate.

5. Data at rest / Storage

Your processed entries (e.g meals) are stored on the devices associated with your iCloud account and in the iCloud service (under private database, i.e. not mixed with other users data). The purpose of storing in iCloud is to make the app experience available across your devices and to avoid loss of data. This being said, the deletion of the app from your device will not lead to data purge as on re-install the data will be retrieved again, nor it will lead to its deletion in iCloud. If you wish to delete all your data, please use Menu>Settings>”Delete all data”. This action requires a manual confirmation as the data will be deleted permanantly.

Changes to this Privacy Policy: We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
